At the far edge of the island, in a village so quiet even the chickens take siestas, resides the Bread Mistress. For generations her lineage has transmuted simple flour and tuna into ftira, for which knights have abandoned sieges.

National Marian shrine and pilgrimage site, built 1920-1932 in neo-Romanesque style. A corridor lined with ex-voto offerings (crutches, baby shoes, letters) testifies to reported miracles.
A magical lagoon-like seawater pool (Qawra) connected to the Mediterranean through a narrow tunnel in the cliff. Traditional Gozitan fishing boats (luzzu) still operate from here.
